The Fellowship of the Golden Grove (“Golden Grove”) is a contemporary earth-based and animist religious community rooted in Nordic Pagan traditions. Golden Grove is a syncretic church that weaves eternal moral, ethical, and spiritual guidance from many traditions into its practices and ceremonies. We believe that all life exists within an interconnected universal consciousness and that human beings are not separate from nature, but participants within a greater living world.
Golden Grove provides a sacred community for those seeking connection, transformation, spiritual exploration, and personal enrichment through intentional practice, communion with nature, community, and sacrament.
We honor the wisdom of those who came before us without pretending that we live in their world.
Tradition gives us roots. Experience allows us to continue growing.
Golden Grove teaches that all life is interconnected through a universal consciousness.
The earth, fungi, plants, animals, forests, oceans, and human beings are participants in an interconnected living world. Each person experiences life through an individual consciousness and follows an individual path, yet none of us exists entirely alone. Golden Grove and its members and participants believe that psilocybin mushrooms serve as a divine teacher and guide to those who engage in its sacramental, ceremonial use. Our Sacrament reveals the divine teachings of the creator. Our Sacrament is essential to our spiritual practice, and only through its sincere religious use can participants understand the moral, ethical, and spiritual wisdom and psychospiritual healing of its divine nature.
The Golden Grove is both our spiritual symbol and our metaphor for this belief.
A grove consists of individual beings, each growing along its own path, while sharing the earth and participating in unseen systems of connection beneath the surface.
We believe humanity is much the same. Our spiritual path is the pursuit and remembrance of this connection.
We seek to remember that we belong to one another, to the earth, and to something greater than ourselves.
The Grove represents our interconnected existence and our spiritual community.
Every tree within a grove is an individual. No two grow identically. Some are ancient. Some have only begun. Some grow straight toward the light, while others twist around the obstacles they encounter.
Each follows its own path. Yet beneath the surface, the forest is connected.
Within the Golden Grove, we honor both truths: we are individuals, and we belong to something larger than ourselves.
The Gold
The Gold represents illumination. It is not material wealth. It is the moment when something previously hidden becomes visible. An insight. An understanding. An awakening. A recognition of connection.
To find the gold is to see ourselves, our lives, or our place within the greater living world with new clarity.
Fungi hold a special place within the symbolism of the Golden Grove.
Beneath a forest exists an extraordinary world that is largely invisible from the surface. Fungal networks participate in relationships throughout forest ecosystems, creating a powerful spiritual metaphor for the connections that may exist beyond our immediate perception.
Within our faith, the unseen world beneath the Grove symbolizes universal consciousness—the greater connection of which we believe every individual is a part.
The spiritual practice of the Golden Grove rests upon three pillars:
We seek connection with ourselves, with one another, with nature, and with universal consciousness.
We believe that remembering our interconnectedness can deepen compassion, responsibility, reverence, and our sense of belonging within the living world.
Transformation is sacred. We believe human beings possess the capacity to grow and change throughout their lives. Transformation requires the willingness to encounter ourselves with honesty, examine patterns that no longer serve us, and consciously participate in who we are becoming.
Transformation is not a destination. It is a lifelong spiritual practice.
Spiritual insight carries responsibility. An experience becomes meaningful through what we do with it. We seek to bring the lessons of spiritual practice into our relationships, choices, creativity, service, and participation in community.
Connection allows us to see. Transformation allows us to change. Integration changes how we live.
The Seven Roots form the foundational principles of our faith.
No being exists entirely alone. Humanity is part of nature rather than separate from it. Our choices ripple outward through our relationships, communities, ecosystems, and generations.
We seek to live with awareness of those connections.
The natural world is more than a resource for human use. The earth and its living systems possess inherent value and are deserving of reverence, protection, and responsible stewardship.
To care for the earth is to care for the Grove.
We believe individual consciousness exists within a greater universal consciousness. This consciousness may be encountered or contemplated through nature, community, meditation, ritual, sacrament, and direct spiritual experience. The Golden Grove does not dictate precisely what universal consciousness must be called or how every member must experience it.
There are many paths through the Grove.
Human beings are capable of change.
We honor the courage required to examine ourselves honestly, release what no longer serves us, repair what can be repaired, and consciously participate in our own becoming.
Transformation does not require perfection. It requires willingness.
Psilocybin mushrooms are received as sacred sacrament within the Golden Grove. We believe the sacrament may help remove barriers that prevent us from experiencing our connection to ourselves, one another, nature, and universal consciousness.
The sacrament is approached with intention, humility, preparation, and respect.
It may reveal insights, emotions, possibilities, and questions, but it does not replace personal responsibility or individual discernment.
The sacrament may illuminate the path.
The individual must still walk it.
The sacramental experience does not end when the effects of the sacrament have passed. We believe integration is part of the ceremony itself.
Members are encouraged to reflect upon what they have experienced and consider how meaningful insights may be carried into everyday life.
We do not enter sacred experience simply to receive.
We return carrying something to give.
Like trees within a grove, we may stand individually while remaining connected beneath the surface. Community is sacred. Members of the Golden Grove are called to support one another without coercion, respect individual autonomy and boundaries, protect vulnerable members, and contribute to the health of the greater community. When one member grows, that growth can enrich the Grove.
Psilocybin mushrooms are the principal sacred sacrament of the Golden Grove.
We honor the mushroom as a sacred sacrament and spiritual teacher through which members may seek introspection, transformation, awe, connection, spiritual inquiry, and communion with universal consciousness.
We believe the sacrament does not create universal consciousness. Rather, sacramental experience may allow individuals to perceive connections that are otherwise difficult to recognize.
Participation in sacramental ceremony is central to the religious tradition of the Golden Grove, although consumption of the sacrament is not required for participation in every gathering or aspect of community life. Our relationship with the sacrament follows a sacred cycle:
Preparation → Communion → Integration
Preparation is the intentional process of approaching sacred experience with respect, reflection, and purpose.
Communion is the direct sacramental experience and the opportunity to encounter insight, connection, and transformation.
Integration is the responsibility of carrying what has been learned back into ordinary life. Each stage is sacred.
The central sacramental ceremony of the Golden Grove is known as the Communion of the Grove. Members enter the ceremony as individuals and gather as a community. Before receiving the sacrament, participants prepare through reflection, intention, spiritual teaching, and community connection.
The sacrament is received intentionally and with reverence.
The experience that follows is deeply personal. Each member is permitted to encounter the sacrament in their own way within the safe and sacred boundaries of the ceremony.
The Communion concludes with a return to community and the beginning of integration. When the sacrament is received, members may be offered this blessing:
May you find what connects you. May you see what asks to change.
May you return with something to give.
The cycle of the Communion can be expressed simply:
We enter as individuals.
We remember that we are connected.
We transform through what we encounter. We return to enrich the Grove.
The Golden Grove is a contemporary living religion rooted in earth-based spirituality, animism, and Nordic Pagan traditions.
We draw inspiration from spiritual traditions that recognize the sacredness of the natural world, the importance of seasonal cycles, ancestral remembrance, sacred natural spaces, ritual, community, and direct spiritual experience. We do not claim to reconstruct a single historical Nordic religion. Instead, we honor these traditions as ancestral roots from which a contemporary spiritual practice continues to grow.
Our roots tell us where we have come from.
They do not determine how far we may grow.
The Sacred Cycle of the Grove
The Golden Grove recognizes the changing seasons as reminders that transformation is cyclical. There is a time to awaken.
A time to grow.
A time to harvest. A time to rest.
And a time to begin again.
A celebration of emergence, intention, possibility, and new beginnings. Members are invited to consider: What is ready to emerge?
The Gathering of the Golden Grove — Summer Solstice
Our celebration of illumination, abundance, connection, and community. The Summer Solstice represents the Grove in its fullness and serves as the Golden Grove’s principal annual gathering.
Members are invited to consider: What has come into the light?
The Harvest — Autumn Equinox
A time of gratitude, reflection, and integration. Members consider what their choices and practices have brought into being and what lessons should be carried forward.
Members are invited to consider: What have I grown, and what will I carry with me?
A time for introspection, remembrance, rest, and the unseen work of transformation. The Long Night reminds us that growth continues even when it cannot yet be seen. Members are invited to consider:
What is changing beneath the surface?
Together, these observances form the sacred cycle of the Golden Grove: Awaken. Grow. Harvest. Rest. Begin Again.
Membership and participation are open to all adults interested in joining our community who take part in our screening process. All Members and participants must agree that they either agree with our doctrine or are interested in exploring if this spiritual practice is right for them. Membership in the Golden Grove carries a responsibility to the community. We seek to practice:
Reverence for nature and living systems.
Autonomy in matters of body, consciousness, and spiritual experience.
Consent that is informed, voluntary, and ongoing.
Integrity in our words and actions. Compassion toward ourselves and others. Accountability for the impact of our choices. Stewardship of the natural world.
Respect for personal and spiritual boundaries.
Safety in sacramental and community practice.
Sacrament is also always maintained consistent with a diversion prevention plan to ensure that no Sacrament is diverted from a religious purpose. Ceremonies occur in compliance with dietary and lifestyle restrictions, including abstaining from alcohol and the use of drugs and alcohol in the days leading up to ceremony. During any ceremony involving Sacraments, we will have on hand individuals trained in basic life support, at a minimum to ensure safety. All participants and members are properly screened to ensure they do not have medical or mental health contraindications with the Sacraments.
Service to the communities of which we are a part.
Integration of spiritual insight into everyday life.
Legality. Golden Grove operates with a good faith legal basis that its activities related to Sacraments are legally protected under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) and similar protections in each state’s Constitution or statutes protecting religious freedom. By acquiring any Sacrament, members affirm that you agree that these Sacraments are acquired and used for spiritual purposes consistent with these beliefs.
No spiritual leader, facilitator, or member stands above these principles. The health of the Grove depends upon the conduct of everyone within it.
The Golden Grove does not promise enlightenment, perfection, or freedom from difficulty.
We offer a path of inquiry. A place to encounter ourselves. A community in which to explore our connection to something greater. A sacrament approached with reverence.
And a responsibility to return from sacred experience, prepared to live with greater awareness of the connections that surround us.
Our faith can ultimately be expressed in four lines:

The Fellowship also recognizes the natural world as inherently sacred. Outdoor and natural settings may therefore serve as places of worship when appropriate and legally permissible.
Church Government and System of Authority
The Golden Grove is led by its two founders: Jerred Kiloh and Adrienne Airhart. Jerred provides organizational leadership and strategic support. Adrienne is the Spiritual Leader of Golden Grove and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Golden Grove and the development of its religious and spiritual practices. Her responsibilities include creating ceremonies, spiritual programming, community events, member education, sacramental practices, integration programming, and facilitator standards. She also serves as a primary facilitator for Golden Grove ceremonies.
Additional qualified facilitators, ministers, spiritual leaders, and board members may be appointed as the congregation develops.
Herbs & Alchemy, LLC provides spiritual coaching, harm reduction services, preparation, sitting, and integration services to support the Golden Grove in participants’ use of Sacrament. Herbs & Alchemy, LLC engages in these activities because it shares Golden Grove’s spiritual values and is motivated by its own religious beliefs to support these spiritual practices.
